Believe it or not, I was a history major at Williams College. After graduation, I entered finance to pay the bills. I became an academic much later. I have a passion for American history through the Reconstruction era. I am a licensed historic tour guide in Charleston, South Carolina. Since completing graduate school in 1992, I have focused on investing in public and private technology companies. I once started and managed six tech mutual funds worth over a total $7 billion for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers which was acquired by BlackRock in 2006.
